Greymatter Gallery
The Greymatter gallery was filled with abstract forms and paintings. I was interested by the forms as they were made from various materials such as a mattress and wires. It made me think about what art is and what those pieces of art meant. It reminded me that art is rooted in perception.

Dianne M. Soffa Gallery
|
Dianne M. Soffa's gallery was small but filled with her creativity. On one wall were balls of dried paint that she collected over many years of painting; on another wall were canvases with her abstract paintings. I had a chance to talk to her and she told me that the paint balls were a unique piece because they always changed from show to show.

Gallery 218
Gallery 218 had a wide range of works on display that made use of various different mediums. I enjoyed the photographs printed on metal plates as some were documentary type photographs while others were abstract.

Sasha Kinens Gallery
|
The Sasha Kinens gallery displayed a variety of work ranging from the abstract to landscapes. I personally enjoyed the more abstract pieces as they employed radient colors and made me analyze the artist's creative decisions. However, the landscapes were just as fascinating. The shading and bold colors were striking and visually appealing.

Nomad Art Gallery
The Nomad gallery displayed various landscapes painted in a variety of styles. I enjoyed the bold use of color combined with the visible brushstrokes; the works on display were reminiscent of impressionist pieces.

Art Upstairs
|
Run by Patrica Gilman Graham and Lois Buley-Wirth, Art Upstairs is a gallery and studio that displays both artists' work. Graham's work is generally made using acryilic and pastels whereas Buley-Wirth often uses watercolor. This gallery is interesting because their works compliment yet juxtapose each others at the same time. Buley-Wirth's art is soft and calm whereas Graham's art is bold and exciting.
